Statement from the Santa Clara County Medical Association Regarding the Shooting Outside Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices in San Jose

The Santa Clara County Medical Association (SCCMA) is deeply saddened by the tragic shooting at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Offices in San Jose. Our thoughts are with the individuals affected, their families, colleagues, patients, and all members of the community impacted by this devastating event.

Healthcare facilities are places of healing, compassion, and care. Every physician, healthcare professional, staff member, patient, and visitor deserves to feel safe in these environments. When violence occurs in or around settings dedicated to care and healing, it can deeply affect individuals, families, healthcare teams, and the broader community.

We are grateful to the first responders, healthcare teams, security personnel, and law enforcement officers who acted swiftly in response to this incident. Their professionalism and dedication helped ensure the safety and care of those involved.

As the investigation continues, SCCMA reaffirms its commitment to supporting the well-being of our physician and healthcare community and the patients they serve. We will continue to keep everyone affected by this tragedy in our thoughts.
