Statement from SCCMA on Patient Safety and Clinical Independence
The Santa Clara County Medical Association (SCCMA) has released a formal statement reaffirming the medical profession’s commitment to health, safety, dignity, and respect for all patients, and condemning violence in all forms.
Recent acts of violence and credible reports of federal agents entering healthcare facilities and interfering with medical care have raised serious concerns about patient safety, clinical independence, and healthcare privacy. Safe and private clinical environments are essential to effective care and public health.
Representing more than 4,800 physicians, SCCMA affirms its duty to support care settings where patients can seek medical attention without fear and healthcare professionals can provide care guided by ethics, evidence, and the law.
