COVID-19 Cases in Santa Clara County Reach 100,000, Nearly One Year After First Case was Confirmed; Vaccination Ramp-Up Continues Despite Limited Supplies

As the one-year mark since the first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Santa Clara County approaches on Sunday, another unfortunate milestone has been surpassed: yesterday, the case count for the county topped the 100,000 mark. County of Santa Clara Health System Expands COVID-19 Vaccination to Individuals Age 65 and Older

IMPORTANT UPDATE: The County Health System, El Camino Health and Stanford Healthcare are now scheduling vaccination appointments for county residents who are 65 and older. Click here to review eligibility or to schedule an appointment. CalHealthCares Physician Loan Repayment Program Inaugural Application Cycle Begins April 1

CalHealthCares is a new loan repayment program that incentivizes physicians to provide care to Medi-Cal beneficiaries by repaying educational debt up to $300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation. All awardees will be required to maintain a patient caseload of 30 percent or more Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The inaugural application cycle for CalHealthCares will open on April 1, 2019. Opioid Prescription Restrictions at Walmart and CVS Pharmacies

In 2018, Walmart (including Sam’s Club) and CVS Caremark implemented dosage and duration corporate policies to restrict opioid prescriptions filled at their pharmacies.
